Homeowner called because the AC had been running all night and the house wouldn't cool below 78. Got there and pulled the disconnect — found a dual run capacitor on a 2011 Goodman GSX140361 that had bulged and partially failed. The capacitor was reading 35/4 MFD against a rating of 45/5, well outside tolerance, which explained why the compressor was slugging along at reduced efficiency rather than shutting down hard. Swapped in a matched OEM-spec dual run cap, checked static pressures, and verified suction and discharge lines were within range before buttoning it up. Also found the condenser coil caked with cottonwood debris on the intake side — cleaned that out while I had the panel off because restricted airflow would've put the new cap right back under stress. Ran the unit through three full cycles before leaving. Cooling properly, delta-T across the supply was a solid 18 degrees. Good to go.
