Got called out to a homeowner on Pleasant Ridge who had an AC that was running but pushing warm air through every vent. Pulled the disconnect and checked the condenser — found a failed dual run capacitor on a Goodman GSX14 unit, roughly 11 years old. The capacitor tested at 3.2 µF on a 45+5 rating, well outside tolerance, which explained why the compressor was struggling to start and the fan was barely moving. Swapped in a matched OEM-spec dual run cap, tightened the contactor connections while I had the panel open — one terminal was showing heat discoloration, early sign of arcing — and replaced that contactor while I was there. Checked refrigerant charge after restart, suction pressure came in at 68 PSI on R-410A, right where it needs to be. Unit locked in, temps at the supply registers dropped 18 degrees within ten minutes. Left it running solid.
