Homeowner called with a unit running constantly but not dropping temperature. Found a failed dual run capacitor on a Carrier 24ABC636 — the compressor side read 2.8 MFD against a rated 45 MFD, basically nothing left. Compressor was still trying to start but pulling high amps and tripping the thermal overload repeatedly. Swapped in a matched OEM dual run cap, let the system stabilize, then checked static pressures and verified suction and discharge were in range. Compressor came up clean, delta-T across the coil hit 18 degrees within 15 minutes. Left it running and confirmed temps were dropping before I walked out.
