Called out for a homeowner who said the system was running but nothing felt right — air moving, but temps in the house weren't budging. Pulled the access panel on the air handler and immediately saw the evaporator coil was iced over solid, which told me refrigerant flow was restricted before I even touched a gauge. Hooked up the manifold set and confirmed suction pressure was sitting low enough to cause the freeze — traced it to a failing TXV that wasn't metering properly, starving the coil. Replaced the thermal expansion valve, let the coil thaw fully, pulled a vacuum, and recharged the system to manufacturer spec. Cycled it through a full run before I left — pressures holding, temperatures dropping the way they should, no more ice forming. Unit is a mid-2010s Lennox, so parts aren't an issue, and the rest of the system checked out fine.
